David Collier
Founder/DP/Director

David Collier has been a prominent figure in the film and video world since 1985. David enjoys the scope of his job, which ranges from visual artist and story-teller to business entrepreneur. He takes great pleasure in working with clients to get at the heart of their message and weave it into a creative, visual treatment.

Straight out of college, David directed and produced For Better or For Worse, a film that explores the lives and relationships of five feisty couples married for fifty years or longer. It earned him several awards, including an Academy Award nomination and brought him a wonderful range of documentary jobs for PBS, BBC, Discovery, MTV and Animal Planet. David sees his work as a license to be curious. Over the years, he has been fortunate to work with a wide-spectrum of clients including Adobe, Adidas, Gap, Clif Bar, Apple, The San Francisco Symphony and Microsoft. His projects have led him not only to amazing places, but also into the lives of incredible people and organizations around the world.

Phil Schulz
Executive Producer

Following the call of “Go West, young man”, Phil came to the Bay Area in 2005 after a decade of film & TV in NYC, working with the likes of Woody Allen, Law & Order, MTV, FX Networks, and anyone else that would hire the kid from Wisconsin. Once here, Phil applied his production expertise and insatiable curiosity to helping companies tell their stories through the (at that time) new medium of web video. Along the way he’s worked with Fortune 500 clients such as Visa, Chrysler, Cisco, Colgate-Palmolive, Dolby, and Yahoo! Phil loves all that Northern CA has to offer. When not working, he can be found with his wife and their 2 kids, exploring coastline, forest and mountain.

Matthew Boyd
DP | Head of Crew Services

Matthew Boyd is an award winning cinematographer based in San Francisco and Los Angeles credited with over 10 feature films, more than 30 short films and a multitude of television, documentary, commercial and music video work. Boyd earned his BFA in Cinematography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Emily Harger
Producer

Emily Harger is an Emmy-nominated video producer, editor and photographer based in Oakland, CA. In 2018, she was recognized as an Emerging Video Journalist by the Society of Professional Journalists Northern California chapter. She was also awarded a Women-in-Docs grant from Glassbreaker Films to produce a short documentary about LGBTQ life in West Virginia. Her roots in southwest Pennsylvania drive her curiosity for the American identity across rural and urban communities. Previously, Emily taught filmmaking to high school youth at Youth Beat in Oakland, CA. In 2017, she was one of three filmmaking residents with Glassbreaker Films, an all women-identifying film studio of The Center for Investigative Reporting. When she’s not making films, she’s hiking, surfing, or making really, really good pie crust.

Peter Jackson
Director

Peter joined the Studio B team in 2015. He brings years of camera experience on commercial, multi-cam live, news and documentary crews to the directing arena. When not on set or in the edit bay, you can find Peter searching for the next mountain bike trail, surf break, or ski tour that California has to offer.

Shani S. Blevins
Accounting

Shani is the Dir. of Finance and Human Resources for Studio B Films. Shani attended San Francisco State University, where she studied Accounting, Corporate Finance and Small Business Entrepreneurship. She has over 13 years of experience in Accounting and Financial Management. Her career has allowed her to learn from the best in the Audit & Assurance Industry at local firms such as Ernst & Young LLP and Deloitte LLP. Later in her career, Shani realized that her true passion lied in Financial Management and Accounting, which led her to work for the Corporate Office of Party America and Fugro West Inc., where she was able to create and implement internal controls, while managing a multi-million dollar government contract. Then in 2004, Shani decided that the skills she developed while working for large corporations would be of greater benefit to the Small Business and Non Profit Sector, which is what lead her to start Shani Shania & Associates, a local Accounting and Financial Management Firm, and just seven years later lead her to join the team of Studio B Films.

Kelsey Rivera
Equipment Manager

Kelsey came to work for Studio B Films after completing an internship in 2018. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Film & Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine. After months and months of hard work and dedication, she moved up as Studio B’s Equipment Manager. She is the “Jill of all trades” around production. While on-set, Kelsey is known to be our in-house Production Assistant, Assistant Camera, Grip, or DIT. Out of the office, you’ll find her in a boxing gym, movie theaters, or on a shoot as a freelance AC.
