Studio B Films Welcomes Creative Director Bill Groshelle

March 19, 2015

Studio B Films is a lucky bunch - we've got Bill!

Bill Groshelle joins us as Creative Director, and brings his deep experience in film and video. His expertise spans the media gamut, but he's particularly adept at leading complex projects -- he pioneered the "blendo" technique, an approach combining live action, graphics, and animation into a seamless image.

Groshelle started out as a director for Colossal Pictures in San Francisco and since then, his work has ranged from commercials for Young & Rubicam, Chiat/Day, and McCann-Erickson to special effects on features such as Top Gun. He also designed and directed many of the original MTV ID's that created the unique identity of that network.

More recently, Groshelle has concentrated on creating videos and installations for corporations, including Apple, Google, Sony, and Intel, and applied his blendo technique to spots for Toshiba and Coca-Cola.

Groshelle's work has earned many industry honors, including an Emmy and numerous awards from the Broadcast Design Association for his MTV work. He's also been a Clio finalist, and received multiple Addy, Telly, One Show, and Monitor awards. His short film, Trapunto, was recently included in a retrospective exhibition of Cal Arts films shown at New York's MOMA and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Needless to say, we're thrilled to have Bill as part of the "B."
