22 Sep Studio B and DISH Network Team Up for TV!

One of our favorite projects of 2017 has to be our broadcast spot for DISH Network & Pac-12 Networks. DISH was looking to showcase their new Game Finder app, allowing users to watch Pac-12 games anytime, anywhere. The creative team at Pac-12 Networks developed a great concept, offering a lot of opportunity for humor, so Studio B decided to bring in a couple of guest directors. We reached out Chris Parisi and Damon Brennan. These two have been working together for 10 years, creating hilarious videos for companies like Pandora, HP and Virgin America. After seeing their work, we knew…

19 Sep Ron Swanson Joins Studio B

Given his past, it was a big risk for Studio B Films to take on a guy like Ron Swanson, but David Collier, Owner and Director of Studio B, was willing to take a chance. Known as one of the most creative minds in the industry, Swanson made a name for himself after working as Executive Creative Director for all of the top ad agencies in New York and LA. When asked why he would give up the all of the Hollywood perks to work in Northern California, Swanson explained, “I was ready for a change. I enjoy the vibe…

15 Jul Studio B and Grammarly are Back!

Have you seen our Grammarly video: First Day, Second Guess? With over 110-million views on the original project, we had the opportunity to work with Grammarly again. This time around, we shot 4 different videos featuring an eclectic cast of characters! Yes– we shot 4 different spots, each looking at featuring that one crazy colleague. The characters might have been a little hyperbolic, but that’s what makes them so fun! The videos featured a master knitter, an early adopter, a techie, and a couple of coffee snobs. Filming multiple videos in one day can be tricky, which means there has to be a lot…

06 Jul Lessons Learned: A Year in the Life of an Educational Video Series

Last year, Studio B and UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science teamed up to create an educational video series for middle schoolers. Headed up by UC Berkeley’s executive producer, Kathryn Quigley, the series consisted of  23 videos, spanning a wide range of subjects within the sciences.  Our challenge for the series was to spark the imagination of the students as we introduced these concepts. The experience was highly rewarding for the Studio B team!   Not only did we learn new scientific material, we learned what makes for a successful education video series. Here are our lessons learned: Research, research,…

18 Jan Stories from the Set: Studio B and Grammarly

Back in November, Studio B worked on a web and broadcast spot for Grammarly. Some of our team was already familiar with the plugin, so we were excited to be working with a company that we loved. For those who don’t know about Grammarly, it’s a free plugin that corrects grammar, spelling, and vocabulary, wherever you want to write! It’s pretty awesome. We showed how Grammarly can help in everyday life, through our protagonist, Lily. It’s her first day of work and Grammarly helps her “write at the speed of life” as she navigates customer emails, tweets, and Facebook messages….

21 Oct Studio B Films ‘Swipes Right’ With Entelo Stack Mobile

When your work is as simple as swiping on your phone, what’s not to love? That’s what the mobile app, Entelo Stack, allows you to do. Entelo Stack Mobile was created for recruiters to have “the perfect app to find the perfect applicant.” Entelo asked Studio B Films to produce a video for them and we jumped at the opportunity. Our director, Jason Armitage, wanted to make Entelo’s video stand out among any other mobile app video. His vision was to have a quirky HR girl with an equally zany morning routine. With the help of some toy dinosaurs, colorful decor, and a…

23 Aug Teaching Middle School Students Concepts in Science

What could be more fun than creating a dramatic short film series for middle school kids? Based on our longstanding relationship with the University of California, Berkeley, the school’s Lawrence Hall of Science along with a team from Amplify asked Studio B to produce a series of educational video dramas for a groundbreaking new curriculum to be distributed nation-wide. Created for middle schoolers, the program is aimed at promoting and encouraging diversity in science fields starting at a young age. Furthermore, the course is an interactive experience that learns and reports on how individual students are absorbing information by integrating…
